Amy Babinchak and Dawn Sizer share their stories and insights as women in the tech industry. As Women Business Owners, they provide valuable advice and practical tips on how to foster diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

In this episode, I aimed to highlight the importance of diversity and inclusion in the tech industry. Amy and Dawn shared their experiences and challenges in the industry and provided practical tips on how to foster diversity and equity in the workplace. We also talked about the changes we have seen over the years in the industry and the need for individuals to make their own way and be true to themselves.

Here are three practical ways to promote Diversity and Inclusion in the Tech Industry.

1. Focus on Corporate Culture and Core Values in Job Ads: As discussed in the episode, making job ads less about a bulleted list of skills and more about the corporate culture and core values of the company can attract a more diverse pool of candidates. By highlighting the company's commitment to diversity and inclusion, women and minorities are more likely to apply for the job.

2. Recognize Different Schedules and Responsibilities for Equity in the Workplace: In order to promote equity in the workplace, it's important to recognize that not everyone has the same schedule or responsibilities outside of work. By offering flexible work arrangements, such as remote work or flexible hours, companies can create a more inclusive environment that accommodates the needs of all employees.

3. Emphasize Equitable Language and Women-Owned Business in Writing: Gender bias can be present in resume writing and reading, so it's important to use equitable language and avoid gendered language in job ads and other written materials. Additionally, highlighting women-owned businesses and partnering with them can promote diversity and inclusion in the industry.

By implementing these practical strategies, companies can promote diversity and inclusion in the tech industry and create a more equitable and inclusive workplace for all employees.

Throughout the episode, we discussed various topics such as the significance of acknowledging diversity, improving diversity in hiring by focusing on corporate culture and core values, recognizing different schedules and responsibilities for equity in the workplace, and gender differences in resume writing and reading.

This episode is part of a series that explores the need for diversity in the tech industry and the benefits of an inclusive culture for every employee.
